Placing the crescent on the minarets of mosques is something that people have come to know as a symbol that distinguishes mosques from others. They also put a red crescent on relief organizations, charitable institutions, hospitals, and pharmacies… to distinguish them from the crosses and other symbols that people of other religions put as their own. Therefore, the crescent has become a symbol that distinguishes institutions affiliated with Muslims, just as other nations have their own symbols that distinguish their institutions.
